Privacy Policy

Calecta, LLC (“Calecta,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Calecta website and application at https://calecta.app. This policy describes the information we collect about you, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your data.

1. Who we are

Calecta, LLC is a California limited liability company. For any privacy-related question, request, or concern, contact us at admin@calecta.app or by mail at Calecta, LLC, 5549 Amber Circle, Calabasas, CA 91302.

2. Information we collect

We collect four categories of information.

2.1 Information you give us directly

  • Account information — when you sign up: email address, password (handled by our auth provider; we never see the plaintext), and the OAuth-provided profile if you sign in with Google or another social provider.
  • Profile information — your display name, username, avatar, bio, interests you select during onboarding, and any other content you choose to add to your profile.
  • Content you create — streets you build, vendors you add to those streets, cover photos you upload, notes or descriptions you write, follows and saves.
  • Communications — if you email us, the message itself plus your email address.

2.2 Information we collect automatically

  • Usage data— pages you view, streets you visit, places you click, your interaction patterns (anonymized in aggregate dashboards; per-user where needed to power features like “recently visited”).
  • Device + technical data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, and a session identifier issued by our authentication provider.

2.3 Information from third parties

  • OAuth providers (e.g. Google) — when you sign in with a social provider, we receive your name, email, and avatar URL as permitted by that provider's terms.
  • Brand asset providers (e.g. Brandfetch) — we query these for vendor logos and brand colors to display in our catalog. They do not receive any information about you.

2.4 Information we explicitly do not collect

  • Payment information — Calecta does not process payments directly.
  • Precise geolocation — we use approximate (city-level) location inferred from IP only when surfacing locale-relevant streets.
  • Information from users we know to be under 13. See “Children's privacy” below.

3. How we use information

  • Operate the service — sign you in, render your streets, save your changes, surface streets and vendors in the discovery feed.
  • Personalize content — recommend streets and vendors based on your interests, follows, saves, and view history.
  • Communicate with you — respond to support inquiries, notify you of significant policy changes.
  • Improve Calecta — analyze aggregate usage to fix bugs, prioritize features, and audit for abuse.
  • Legal compliance — respond to lawful requests from law enforcement, comply with applicable laws, enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Who we share information with

Calecta does not sell your personal information. We share information only with the categories of recipients described below.

4.1 Service providers (sub-processors)

These companies process data on our behalf, under contractual obligations to keep it confidential and use it only for the purpose we instruct.

  • Supabase — Authentication, database, file storage. Their privacy policy.
  • Vercel — Application hosting and serverless functions. Their privacy policy.
  • Anthropic — AI inference for brand-style suggestions in the admin panel (no end-user content is sent). Their privacy policy.
  • Brandfetch — Brand logo and color lookups for the vendor catalog. Their privacy policy.
  • Skimlinks (a Taboola company) — Affiliate monetization — converts outbound merchant links and collects click data to attribute purchases. Their privacy policy.

4.2 Affiliate networks

When you click an outbound link to a vendor's website, we may route the click through an affiliate network so the network can attribute any purchase to us. We currently work with Skimlinks (a Taboola company), whose technology on our site may collect information about the outbound links you click in order to provide this service. The network sets its own cookie on the destination site and may collect referral information. You can review Skimlinks' privacy policy or opt out of its tracking at optout.skimlinks.com. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

4.3 Legal disclosures

We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Calecta, our users, or the public.

4.4 Business transfers

If Calecta, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and outline your choices at that time.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to operate the service. See our Cookies Policy for a complete list and instructions for opting out.

6. Your rights

6.1 All users

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction — update inaccurate information.
  • Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated information (subject to legal retention obligations).
  • Portability — receive your information in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

6.2 California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents have the rights above plus the right to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

6.3 EU/UK residents (GDPR)

EU and UK residents have the rights above plus the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The legal bases on which we process your data are (a) performance of a contract (when you sign up + use the service), (b) legitimate interests (operating, improving, and securing the service), and (c) consent (for any optional analytics).

6.4 How to exercise these rights

Email admin@calecta.app from the address on your account. We respond within 30 days. We may verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

7. Data retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. After deletion, we retain certain information as required by law (e.g. records of legitimate disclosures) and aggregated, de-identified data indefinitely for analytics.

8. International transfers

Calecta is operated from the United States. Our primary service providers (Supabase, Vercel) host data in the United States. If you access the service from outside the US, you understand that your information is transferred to and processed in the US, which may have different data-protection laws than your jurisdiction.

9. Children's privacy

Calecta is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents may contact us at admin@calecta.app.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls, audit logging on the database layer) to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we work to maintain reasonable safeguards.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the “Last updated” date below. For material changes affecting how we use your information, we will notify you by email or a prominent notice in the app.

12. Contact us
